Lately there have been a lot of fires, like the one in Los Alamos, NM. And if this isn't enough, the fire started right by a nuclear waste treatment plant. The fire started 6/30/2011 and has spread over 193 sq. miles of New Mexico land. Again one way to reduce the risk of a fire happening in your garden is to keep all dry matter is a cool place and all compost wet. And NEVER start a fire near a compost bin because when plant matter decays it creates highly flammable methane gas which with even the slightest spark could explode.
