Potted Plant Water Tips

I've been gone a while due to reasons beyond my control so let's get right into this topic. So it's summer and you water your patio plants one morning and they look fine, but the next day you wake up late and they all are almost dead. That's what can happen to plants in summer, they die most often due to lack of water. But you can change that with water gels.
They cost about $14 - $30 dollars a package, and they help store water in soil. For my potted plants I mix about half a cup per cubic foot of soil. That may not sound like much, but when it soaks the water, they expand from half a cup to almost three or four cups. And because they are gels, they leak moisture when the surrounding area is dry. So these guys are watering when you aren't. Another upside to this? They prevent runoff from the soil leaving all that good plant food in the pot for the plants to eat.
